Malou Gaerlan of The Gaerlan’s Creative Hands is an event stylist who works hard to bring a memorable atmosphere to an event.
Creativity, Passion, and Cooperation are keys to The Gaerlan’s Creative Hands’ success. Malou, together with her family has been operating The Gaerlan’s Creative Hands for three years now. Her husband Manny, loves Caricature , her son Josh loves the invites, and she is in-love with Amigurumis. Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. The word is a portmanteau of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.
As a stylist, Malou takes her client’s vision to the event. Her responsibilities may include the selection of adornments, table settings and lightings. Her design decisions create the mood that guests will experience upon entering the event’s venue. If the event has a specific theme, she is responsible for selecting items that bring that theme to life.
Malou’s family enjoys going on event styling for 7th or 1st birthday. It gives them the feeling of going to parties with lots and lots of prizes and loot bags.

Challenges that you have faced on your business:
“Manpower and storage area. Manpower because its hard to find people who have passion for designing, its a good thing that we work in this business as a family, since all of us are inclined to art. My husband and I are Fine arts graduate and our son Josh is in Digital art. As our business grew we struggled with our storage space. Some of our clients wanted us to hold some of their materials and banners between events which put a further strain on storage space. Also, take note that not all clients have the same theme so we are always striving when it comes to finding extra space for storage area.”
“I don’t have a motto, but I have a favorite Bible verse its – 1 Corinthians 10:31…..”so whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
Advice that you can give to those who want to start their own business:
“Always bring God into your decisions, even small things like will I buy this or will I accept this client. You will never go wrong if all the things that you will do has God’s blessing.”
