Want to get to know one of the most followed blogger in the Philippines? She’s a 23-year old travel, lifestyle, fashion and beauty blogger from Tagaytay City. She is probably one of the people that we should look up to or we should admire when it’s come to travel blogging. Yup, she’s none other than the beautiful and stylish Vern Encisco.
Travel blogging requires an incredible amount of work, as well as a tremendous investment of time and effort before you begin to see any benefits.
To begin with, writing posts is just a part of being a travel blogger. After that, travel bloggers spent their time responding to potential advertisers, reaching out to sponsors, editing photos, videos, collecting promotional materials, tweaking site design, tracking financials, link building, doing SEO, reading other travel blogs, and maintaining a presence on social media.
When your career and passion is the same thing, you need to point out how essential it is for you to work ALL THE TIME!
Most advertisers won’t work with a site less than one year old. You have to prove yourself as an investment yet.
Freelancers and Entrepreneurs can relate to this most of the time, it’s either you get big money or none. Most of the money is not made regularly. Either you are making far more than you need or you are not making nearly enough.
It is very important that you ask yourself whether you’re prepared to handle the entrepreneurship.
Our team is very grateful to Vern Enciso for this feature. Let’s have a glimpse of her.
Name: Vern Enciso
Star Sign: Aries
Hails from: Tagaytay City
Things you do in your free time: eat, read, cross things off my travel bucket list and play with my baby brother 🙂
What are your Pet peeves? People who talk too loud in public.
Top 3 things on your Bucket list? Go to a safari and go Shark Diving in South Africa, Skydive and wake up to air balloons outside my window in Capadoccia.
People you admire? My dad and mom will always be my biggest heroes.
Best advice you’ve ever been given? Things always happen for a reason.
One thing that people don’t know about you? I’m a very reserved person with a lot of my beliefs but I’ll always try something once. Contradictory I know but I don’t wanna regret at the end 🙂 Coffee or Tea? COFFEE!!!!!! HAHA! I always say give me coffee and I will conquer the world.
My one true regret is.… Not catching John Lloyd off guard with a kiss when I first met him. lol kidding but to be serious, maybe it’s not travelling earlier. I wish I discovered it when I turned 18.
Your No.1 Karaoke song? You’ll Never Get to Heaven 😛
Top 3 things you’d bring if you were to get stuck on an island? My sister, My baby brother and a knife.
What makes you happy? Coffee, writing, spending time with my family and traveling with my boyfriend and my sister to new places. And sometimes: Shoes, make up and bags. hahaha!
What sparked your interest in fashion?
I think it was when I discovered Olivia Palermo in the show The City.
Can you tell us about your blog?
My blog is one I share with my sister Verniece and it’s one directed at travel, beauty, life and style.
What made you take fashion more seriously?
When I started blogging!
Are you self-taught or did you study fashion design?
I didn’t learn it from school at all! I think international blogs and magazines I read growing up helped me learn more about trends and how to mix and match. Experimenting as well.
What was your biggest challenge starting out?
I honestly had not much. Until 3 years ago (I started this 7 years ago!), I didn’t think of this as a business or a job. It’s always been my passion to write and because I always had fun and love doing this, I never really had a hard time.
Who are your mentors/role models?
My parents will always be my biggest mentors. Another one would be my law teacher who was probably the most terror one I had in my life. His name was Dr. Robles and he taught me that the world will be a very very cruel place but if you’ve come prepared every single day and not take people too seriously, you’ll be okay.
How has your work evolved since you began your blog?
My work evolved dramatically since I started 7 years ago! haha A BIG BIG CHANGE! I sometimes look back at my old blog and see my old pictures and outfits and cringe every single time! Haha! But now I’m more secure when it comes to my personal style, know my weaknesses and what I shouldn’t do and should do 🙂 My pictures are definitely better as well!
What are you fascinated by at the moment and how does it feed into your work?
Traveling to new places. It helps me know more about myself and that gives me more content and lessons to share.
What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started blogging?
You can’t really depend on anyone but yourself and family.
What advice would you give to aspiring fashion bloggers?
Just start your blog and be yourself.
Success to me is when I’ve made all my dreams come true yet at the end of the day my feet are still on the ground.
What would you like to achieve next year?
I’ve always wanted the countries I’ve been to to match my age and so far I’ve only gone to 18 so I want to go to 6 new ones next year so it’ll be 24 when I do turn that on 2017.
What’s your motto?
I have two: This too shall pass & as long as my heart and mind are at peace, no matter what everyone’s saying around me about my decision, I’m on the right track.
We hope you enjoyed this little chat with Vern Encisco, get to know her more by following her Instagram and her blog (with her sister Verniece) for more inspirations!
